Unlock Education Launches in Belgium with Its First Selected Social Entrepreneurs
March was a milestone month for Unlock Education: we celebrated the official launch of the partnership in Belgium and Türkiye, marking an exciting step forward with the introduction of the first selected Ashoka social entrepreneurs in each country.
On March 5, at the AXA Belgium office, we welcomed two social entrepreneurs:
- Ashoka Fellow Koen Timmers, co-founder of Take Action Global, is building a global movement for climate education. Through the Climate Action Project, he has already reached over 3.4 million teachers and students across more than 180 countries, connecting classrooms worldwide and empowering young people to become solution-makers.
- Ashoka Fellow Theo Vaes, co-founder of Athena Open Leercentrum, is tackling school dropout at its root. Building on a decade of research, he addresses the systemic barriers that push students out of education, working closely with families and young people to ensure that no one loses their path before it even begins.
We were also honored by the participation of Clément Rouxel, General Delegate of AXA Foundation, Etienne Bouas-Laurent, CEO of AXA Belgium, and Dina Iosifidis, Sustainability & Reputation Manager at AXA Belgium.
